Poker by itself is a game – one of the most popular card games in the world in fact. Ever since its origin several decades ago, it is grown and changed and branched out into different versions and types and these in turn have changed and are being played differently.

Draw games generally consist of 3 to 7 players. At the beginning of the game 5 cards are dealt out to the players. Once the cards have been dealt out to all the players bets are placed subsequent to which each player exchanges a maximum of three cards. After this the bets are placed again which leads to a showdown. When the number of players is less than six, a player can draw up to four cards if their remaining card is an ace.
Stud games usually have 2 to 7 players in but in some variations the maximum number of players even touches 10. The number of cards that are dealt out differs from one type of stud game to another. Usually all the players are dealt a certain number of cards followed by a card each after betting rounds are concluded. This goes on until each player has 7 cards.
In shared card games there are generally 3 to 10 players but some variants allow up to 20 players. As the name suggests cards are placed in the center of table after all the players are given a small number of cards initially. Texas Hold’em and Omaha Hold’em are two very popular types of shared card games.
Miscellaneous poker games as the name suggests is a set of poker games which are different from one another yet do not fall into any of the types mentioned above. These games have a standard ranking of hands and are very unlike what is there in draw, stud and shared card games.
